PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS AIMS TO LAUNCH ON "EVERY PLATFORM"

by Chris Smith on January 02, 2018

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has hit a new milestone of 3 million concurrent players on Steam, as PUBG Corporation looks to expand to platforms beyond PC and Xbox One.

The milestone was revealed in a tweet from PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene. He posted Steam statistics to Twitter, thanking fans for their continued support following the game's 1.0 release.

Clearly, the game's creators want to go even further than smashing Steam's records. PUBG Corp. CEO, Chang Han Kim has revealed in an interview with InvenGlobal that he would like the game to become a "universal media franchise", saying that "the final goal would be to launch the title on every platform".

This means that the developer does plan to expand beyond the currently available PC and Xbox One versions of the game. That could take some time, however - the CEO makes clear that PUBG will be "an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time".

"We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers’ taste," he continues. "We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first."
